Teaching

The possibility to utilize several different tools and to address a mixed audience necessitates greater effort than in the past in terms of organizing and orchestrating your lessons. Before you enter the classroom, you’ll need to detail your syllabus. The more clearly you structure your sessions, the simpler it will be to run them.You’ll be teaching all the participants simultaneously - in person and online –thanks to the video cameras in the classroom. These cameras have four preset options that allow you to share specific shots (instructor, classroom, and specific parts of the whiteboard).Classroom participants see the whiteboard, and the images projected by the two projectors on the wall above. Online participants see whatever you share via the conference call tool. So it’s important to carefully consider what you want to share and when.

During the lesson you may want to share videos, slides, documents and the whiteboard itself.

For further information on the functions of the conference call tools, consult the relative user guides which you can access here:

You can get the “digital whiteboard” effect with a number of tools:

    • Pen software (integrated in the podium, along with the Overlay software, which gives you a “transparency” effect);

    • Windows Ink software;

    • Collaborate Whiteboard;

    • Team Whiteboard (Note: we don’t recommend this whiteboard as it isn't included in the recordings of the session)

    • Blank PPT.

It’s easy to share support materials for the lesson (PPTs, docs, PDFs) by sharing the screen of the device that you used to activate the call.

Below you’ll find a summary of various possible combinations, utilizing either Teams or Collaborate.

COLLABORATE

NOTE: The Software Pen is automatically recognized by Excel and PowerPoint. This allows you to write and take notes directly on these applications.

On PowerPoint you can also action the pen from Presentation mode by clicking on the banner (in yellow in the fourth photo, as shown here). On this banner you can:

  1. select the color of the pen;

  2. select the eraser (Careful! The eraser deletes all your writing and notes, not only what you want to erase);

  3. access the Whiteboard of the Podium PC;

  4. go from slide to slide.

TIPS

  • For optimal sharing of video streams, we suggest keeping the window blinds closed during the lesson.

  • It’s a good idea to check in with online participants every 10 or 15 minutes to make sure they aren’t having any trouble following the lesson.

  • During the lesson, be careful of what frame you choose, to avoid inadvertently cutting yourself out of the picture.
